    The Mississippi Capitol Building

    Located on the site of the old penitentiary, the Mississippi State Capitol building is a Beaux Arts structure that was completed in 1903. The building houses three levels of government: Legislative, Judicial and Executive. Both guided and self-guided tours are avaialble.

    Medgar Evers Home Museum
    The former home of civil rights activist Medgar Evers, this house is now a museum operated by Tougaloo College. The home was a prime target for vandalism by groups opposed to the civil rights movement, and was ultimately the location of Evers assassination. Potential visitors must contact Tougaloo College to book an appointment.
